I... have been plagiarized by the Prince of Tennis Wikia. The overview section of the page on Muga no Kyouchi is lifted word for word from my tenipuri website. Without credit, which is important, because all my sites are under the Creative Commons noncommercial-share alike-attribution license. It's on every page.

I suppose they could have gotten it from my LJ/DW, but that just makes it more egregious, because those entries do not have the CC license on them and should be assumed to be hands-off unless stated otherwise.

I'm torn between disgusted and amused. What do people think? Should I edit it out and leave a note to do it right next time, or just add a source note, or what? Alas, the person who added that section was not a registered user, so I can't smack them personally on the wrist.

Oh... ugh, sorry this is happening to you. I've had this happen to me a few times, both with wikis and personal fansites lifting stuff from my site(s) word for word. I've actually had almost my entire site lifted before too.

Being that it's on the PoT Wikia where you don't even know who did it, as opposed to someone else's "personal" fansite, I'd ask whether you mind having what you wrote over there. Once upon a time, I'd most likely jump in and go on a deleting rampage just for the mere principle alone. If you decide to leave it there, I'd definitely go in and add a source note though.

At the very minimum, add a source note. I'm guessing that since it's "information" and not "fic" and people seem to have no clue when it comes to plagiarism, the person who stole it didn't think it seemed important to give credit.

And chances are good that even if you edited it out, they'd come back along and revert it anyway. People suck.

Unless you don't like that site and just don't want your content to be on it, just adding a source note and mentioning why you made the edit seems okay to me. Most of the users of the site probably had no idea what that one unregistered user had done, and this may be an opportunity to educate them on CC :)

It's annoying, but hopefully they're just kids who don't yet know how to attribute and have no idea what CC is. It's an opportunity for converting more little souls education! ;)

Wow. A *wiki* plagiarism. Now that's... Wow. I share your mixed reactions, though on a less personal level. What a weird thing to happen!

Add source note, I would think, and maybe say "and thanks to the original person who liked my stuff so much that they posted it intact without credit."
